About
As a scenic designer, I believe in nurturing the intersections of art, design, architecture and performance. The fluidity with which artists of the Baroque period oscillated between disciplines I find invigorating and exciting. With a strong passion for opera and experimental performance, I enjoy reinterpreting and challenging classic dramatic works.
In addition to my contemporary artistic practice I conduct research on the history of scenic design and festival culture. I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, Department of Theatre, Film & Media Studies. My doctorate is funded with a Junior Fellowship from the IFK (International Research Center for Cultural Studies, Vienna) and a DOC Fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Sciences. I have also received research grants from the Fondazione Cini, the Botstiber Institute, the Bella Maniera Association and the Beinecke Library at Yale.
Previously I earned degrees in Scenography from Yale School of Drama and a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design. In 2022, my article on Pietro Righini and the Bibiena family won the Ricciardi prize from Master Drawings for best new art historical article on the topic of drawings from someone under 40. In 2015 I received a Fulbright Grant to Vienna, Austria where I pursued research at the Austrian National Theater Museum (Theatermuseum Wien) and collaborated with students in the Film- and Stage Design Department at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna.
Between 2011-2014 I worked in architectural design offices in Zurich, Switzerland and New York City before moving to Vienna, Austria in 2015.
